A Permanent Procedure
You should carefully consider this cosmetic dental procedure, because your dentist must first grind down the surface of your tooth in order to apply the veneers. This makes the procedure irreversible.

But the porcelain used is an incredibly durable substance with a color, texture and appearance identical to tooth enamel. Porcelain veneers are not vulnerable to decay, and are virtually stain-resistant.

The Process
This procedure usually takes two dentist visits to be completed. At your first appointment, your teeth will be roughened and shaped to prepare them for the veneers. The grinding creates a better surface for bonding and makes room to fit the porcelain shells over your teeth. Once the tooth preparation is completed, impressions will be taken, along with other additional information, and sent an LVI-Certified Laboratory. An LVI-certified laboratory is highly qualified and specially trained in producing aesthetic prosthetics of the highest quality. The laboratory technician custom fabricates and shades each individual veneer. Once completed it is sent back to the dental office.

During your final visit, you will try on your new veneers to assure a positive fit. On final approval from you, each veneer will be permanently seated and bonded in place.

Restrictions
You can use these porcelain veneers just as you would your regular teeth, but be aware that they are stronger when crushing food than if you are twisting or tearing an object. Because of this, you should avoid cracking nuts, chewing on bones, biting your nails or any other act that may cause chipping or cracking.
